Early CPR & AED Saves Lives

As Public Safety Dispatchers, we rarely have the opportunity to hear the outcome of some of our most serious calls. This local family had the scare of a lifetime on Aug 6th, when the caller's husband was suffering from a cardiac arrest at home. Shift Supervisor J. Oster answered the call and began instructing the caller on doing CPR while emergency responders were en route. The team effort of the Hingham Police officer's use of the defibrillator and Hingham Firefighters Local 2398, proves that early CPR & AED does save lives. The couple came into the dispatch center to meet the dispatcher who was on the other end of the phone that evening. We are so happy to hear that the resident has recovered and is doing great.
